How we work

The same firm, different conversations.

The six functions below are where most of our work lives. Each has its own talent pool, its own training-ground companies, its own rhythm of how leaders move. We work them differently because the searches themselves are different.

Most of our mandates draw on more than one function. A CEO succession involves the HR seat. A pre-IPO CFO search overlaps with the audit committee chair. A CTO appointment in a tech-led business needs the product and engineering layers underneath thought through. We bring the same multi-functional view to a search that boards bring to their best appointments.

Below is what we do across each. Each page carries an honest account of how we work in the function, the seats we are typically retained for, and the observations we have on where the talent picture is moving.

A note on the way we work

Function is one lens. Sector is the other.

Most of our searches sit at the intersection of a function and a sector — a CFO in chemicals, a CHRO in FMCG, a CTO in financial services. The pages below are organised by function because that is how the conversation usually starts; but our deepest credibility is at that intersection, where function meets the industry.
